Books to Address Needs

Marisa R. Mendel, M.D. is a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist who specializes in children, adolescents and young adults, providing psychotherapy and psychopharmacologic consultation and treatment.   She is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in Adult Psychiatry and in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.  Dr. Mendel graduated from Cornell University and received her M.D. from SUNY Upstate School of Medicine.  She completed residency and fellowship training in Psychiatry and in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Harvard University.  She is currently working as a staff psychiatrist for Comprehensive Psychiatric Associates in Wellesley, MA.

Books on Grief


Books on Grief is a list of children's grief-themed books, using picture books. While appropriate for mostly for ages 4 to 8, the creators of the list believe all ages would benefit. The collaborators reviewed 286 grief-themed books and then identified their favorite ones. The table includes the book's picture, a brief synopsis, and recommendations for associated activities.
