Grade PARCC Testing

Dear Third Grade Parent/Guardian,
Starting in 2015, New Jersey school districts transitioned to a new statewide assessment as part of a consortium of states known as Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career or PARCC. PARCC has developed tests that are aligned to standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics that were adopted by the New Jersey State Board of Education in 2010. The following link will provide you with good knowledge related to this assessment:
Our third graders will be administered the PARCC tests on the mornings of April 24th through April 27th (Math) and May 1st through May 3rd (English Language Arts).  More testing information here:
  • There will be approximately 75 minutes of testing time per day.
  • These assessments are computer-based and will measure your child's content knowledge and key skills, such as critical thinking, applying content knowledge and using information from what they read, to write their responses.
  • Your child will require the use of their personal earbud/in-ear headphone to complete this assessment and they will be tested on a laptop in their classroom setting.
Please make certain your child is on time for school for all of the testing days.  Avoid scheduling vacation time and medical appointments for your child during the testing period. Getting to bed early each night and eating a healthy breakfast each morning are always recommended. Finally, it is important to encourage your child to do his or her best,  as we know they will do.
If you have any questions regarding this assessment, please feel free to contact me or your child's classroom teacher.
Respectfully yours,
Anastasia Maroulis
